Vande Bharat stone pelting: The actual happening

After being inaugurated on December 30, the pride of Indian Railways, Vande Bharat Express was greeted by stone pelters near Malda, which damaged the right side door of the C-13 bogey while it was on its way from Howrah to New Jalpaiguri. Again, for the second time in as many days, the same incident was repeated near the New Jalpaiguri rail yard. This time the windows of 2 bogeys, C-3 and C-6 were damaged near the Phansidewa area.

Political parties’ blame-game

The ruling and the opposition parties were seen trading verbal blows with the opposition BJP, demanding a NIA investigation into the incident. Law enforcement authorities have not yet been able to identify and intercept the miscreants till now on the Vande Bharat stone pelting. BJP’s Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari suspects, the foul play is an eventual response from the ruling party supporters as “Jai Shri Raam” chants by the BJP members were aloud during the inauguration. He also termed the incident to be very unfortunate and a manifestation of an unhealthy mindset. Trinamool MP and film star Dev, was quick to retort to the above comments classifying it as a law and order problem and is not remotely connected to politics, on his Twitter handle. An Eastern Railway official told the media that the RPF (Railway Protection Force) has sprung into action by spreading awareness on the nuances of such unbecoming conduct and termed it as a social evil. However, the ruling party spokesperson hinted at a conspiracy that led to such an incident and demanded an investigation to unravel the same.
