The upcoming movie Tiku Weds Sheru, which happens to be the maiden venture as the producer for the infamous female actor of Bollywood, Kangana Ranaut, faced controversy within hours of the release of its teaser. A section of social media users has condemned the kissing scene between Nawazuddin Siddiqui kissing 21-year-old Avneet Kaur.
Tiku weds Sheru – The controversial kiss
The upcoming movie Tiku weds Sheru has been the center of criticism, irrespective of its validity and relevance, has been receiving negative comments from a section of social media users who came up with their own version of morality about a 49-year-old actor who happens to be kiss a 21-year-old female actor on screen. The users happened to criticize the scene over a vague argument quoting the age difference between the male and the female actor. However, few defended the same quoting previous instances in Jab Harry Met Sejal (2017). Shah Rukh is 57, while Anushka is 35.
The Tiku Weds Sheru movie revolves around a struggling actor, Sheru in Mumbai as he tries his best to make ends meet. The role of Sheru is portrayed by Nawaz, and his family decides to wed him with another aspiring female actor Tiku, played by Avneet Kaur. The narrative revolves around the exploits of the couple after getting married as they move to Mumbai to pursue their individual goals.
Talking about approaching Nawazuddin for the role of Sheru, Kangana Ranaut said: “I was looking for his number and people were telling me that he won’t sign anything for the coming five years, and he won’t even talk to anyone, but I thought he might sign if he hears something that he might like. Somehow, I got his number, and I messaged him that I wanted to meet him.”
Tiku weds Sheru – Starcast and release date
Recalling her search for her hero, Kangana Ranaut continued: “Nawazuddin was in Bengaluru, and he asked me to come over, and I did. He was surprised that I actually went to Bangalore to meet him. I told him I have a script, and he was like, now that you are here, who needs a script, we will do a film. That was the entire conversation I had with Nawazuddin for ‘Tiku Weds Sheru’.” The movie is currently slated for an OTT release on Amazon Prime on June 23rd.
