SSC GD Constable Exam information and application process

The exam conducted by SSC for the SSC GD Constable Exam (Staff Selection Commission General Duty Constable Exam) for 45284 vacant positions in Financial Year 2022-23 have already started accepting applications online. The exams are scheduled from January 10,2024 to January 14, 2023. The entire selection process is expected to be completed by February 14, 2023. The results for the online written exam is expected to be released by march, 2023 after which the dates for the Physical Eligibility Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST) will be announced by the Commission. The details of the examination are also available in the SSC website. Out of the 45284 vacant positions, 40274 are for male candidates and 4835 for female candidates. Detailed break-up of the vacancies can be found on the website. 2 pay scales are applicable for the selected candidates namely, Pay Level 1 (Rs. 18,000 to 56,900) and Pay level 3 (Rs. 21,700-69,100).

Eligibility for SSC GD Constable Exam

  1. The candidate needs to have secured pass marks in the 10th standard or Matriculation exam from Central or State recognized board.
  2. The candidate must be between the age group of 18-23 years for General Categories. However, relaxations are applicable for candidates’ subject to conditions. The details for the same can be found in the website.
  3. Candidates who are Indian citizens are eligible to apply. Migrated candidates need to submit their domicile or PRC certificates.

Exam process details

The SSC GD Constable Exam (Staff Selection Commission General Duty Constable Exam) process is divided into 2 parts, Written Test and Physical Test. The written test happens online and the candidates shortlisted from the online test are eligible to appear for the Physical Eligibility Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST) conducted by the commission. The written test evaluates the candidates in English/Hindi, General Awareness, Elementary Mathematics along with General Intelligence and Reasoning. The examination Fees for the General Quota candidates is Rs. 100. For SC/ST and women candidates, there are no application fees.
