Team India’s problems keep compounding as the Rohit Sharma injury on his left thumb, while trying to take a catch (eventually dropped) in the 2nd ODI vs Bangladesh in Mirpur made him go out of the field straightaway . He was rushed off to Dhaka hospital as result, for an X-ray as we await further updates on the injury. Deepak Chahar too left the field with a hamstring injury.
Double “Bolt to the Blue”
Team India’s problems don’t seem to stop as they were dealt with a double jolt today when not only skipper Rohit went off the field with an injured left-thumb while trying to hold on to a catch in the slips. The catch went down, and so did Rohit! He was rushed to the Dhaka hospital for an X-ray, awaiting further information. To add to the woes, Deepak Chahar, after bowling 3 overs was forced to leave the field due to a stiff hamstring.
Rohit Sharma injury adds to the present crisis
Team India’s star players are missing out on crucial matches due to such spate of injuries. It’s an ever-increasing list starting with Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja with Rohit and Deepak being the latest additions. Rohit was rested in the ODI series vs NZ after the T20 World Cup and data shows that this was the 3rd ODI series Rohit is being a part of the team amongst 8 such series that Team India has played in this calendar year. Deepak Chahar too had a not-so-pleasant year as well as he was injured in the T20 home-series vs WI in Feb, and again sustained another injury while recovering from the present one in NCA. No wonder Team India is struggling to get its team balance and combination in the right order , and its only time we have to rely on to find out the long term effects of today’s injury sustained by Rohit and Deepak.
