IED Blast in Rajouri kills 5 Army Personnel in Kashmir on Friday Morning in the dense forest area of Rajouri. Media sources claim that an Army Officer has also been injured in the blast caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

IED Blast in Rajouri – The casualties

The latest news update is 5 Army personnel were killed after they were cornered by militants and killed after the IED explosion happened in the dense forests of Rajouri in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. As per reports, senior Police and Military officials reached the area to gun down the militants responsible for the blast including the Elite Forces in the Army.

Army spokesperson confirms that the slain personnel in IED Blast in Rajouri were a part of the team involved in a joint operation who was working on a mission to track down the terrorists involved in the Poonch sector ambush. Army PRO Lt Colonel Devender Anand in a statement said that Army personnel have been conducting “relentless intelligence-based operations to flush out” the militants involved in the ambush. As part of this joint operation, a search was launched in the forests of the Kandi area of Rajouri district on May 3, he said.

IED Blast in Rajouri – Blasts of the past

The IED Blast in Rajouri follows the killing of 5 Indian soldiers militants ambushed an Army truck in the Tota Gali area of Bhatta Durian in the Poonch district, which is adjacent to Rajouri. The incident had taken place last month and the Friday blast happened in the backdrop of the SCO Summit in Goa which is currently ongoing.

The soldiers killed in the IED Blast in Rajouri explosion were identified as Lance Naik Ruchin Singh Rawat from Uttarakhand; Paratrooper Siddhant Chettri from West Bengal; Naik Arvind Kumar and Paratrooper Pramod Negi from Himachal Pradesh; and Havildar Neelam Singh from Jammu. The injured Army personnel were admitted to the Command Hospital in Udhampur where 3 of them succumbed to their injuries as well.
