ED arrests TN Minister Senthil Balaji for Money laundering after searching his official chamber in State Secretariat. The Enforcement Directorate which is a investigating agency under the Economic Offenses Wing for the Government of India also raids the TN Minister’s bungalow in Chennai as well as in Karur and Coimbatore.

ED closes in on Senthilbalaji after questioning him for 18 hours in the alleged money laundering case they took him in their car at around 2 AM in the morning today to Government Multi Super Specialty Hospital at Omandurar Estate in Chennai for a medical checkup as a mandatory process after the arrest. There were around 3 vehicles loaded with documents that were seized from the Minister’s residence in Chennai. A team of Rapid Action Force took charge of the hospital premises where the Minister’s medical checkup is scheduled to be conducted.
As per the latest breaking news update, ED had launched searches at several locations that were in link to the TN Minister in Chennai, Karur and Erode while interrogating the accused Minister. The raid and the eventual arrest came after the Supreme Court granted permission to the investigating authority and the Police to probe the alleged financial irregularities and probe his involvement in the cash-for-jobs scam in Tamil Nadu for the DMK leader.
ED Arrest – Opposition reacts
The opposition parties at the Center who are an ally to the DMK in Tamil Nadu dubbed the arrest and the investigation as intimidating. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and DMK supremo M K Stalin reacted in a similar manner to the arrest made by the Enforcement Directorate. This is a revengeful act. The Union government is doing many wrong things against states where there is a non-BJP government like in West Bengal, Delhi and here, Tamil Nadu minister Ponmudi said.
Senthil Balaji happens to be a senior leader of the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu who hails from Karur and also holds the Prohibition and Excise Folio. His house was also raided by Income Tax officials last month.
