David Hollis: Life at the Disney
Hollis became the Chief of the Walt Disney Group’s Head of Theatrical Distribution in 2011 after his predecessor Chuck Viane retired. During his tenure, Disney had reached phenomenon levels in terms of both fame and finances as he handheld names like Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm and Pixar for Walt Disney productions to make them reach out to every remote corner of the world. Also, live action remakes of animated classics reached stupendous popularity levels during his tenure.
However, David Hollis left the studio (and California) to become CEO of Chic Media, a Texas-based production company founded by Hollis’ wife at the time, Rachel Hollis, although they got divorced later.
“I can’t count the number of ‘pinch-me’ moments I’ve had in my time at Disney,” Hollis said in a statement at the time of his resignation from the company. “In a world where so few opportunities could compare, the chance to support my wife and help grow her company was something I couldn’t pass up, “as a sum up of his experience while working in Walt Disney Group.
