Chelsea: Things are looking up after their win in Chelsea vs Dortmund
Chelsea coach Graham Potter was the one carrying the load for the most with the dismal run they had this year. The path towards the knock-outs in the UEFA League was getting blurry, when the team played out of their skin to hand out a 2-0 drubbing. The club recently got a significant capital inflow of $600 million to build the team and every defeat they suffered, the curtain was closing in on the coach.
A huge relief for the team
“There was a fantastic feeling in the dressing room. We have been through a tough period and this competition means a lot for us,” said Potter. “We wanted to progress and get into the last eight and it sets us up for the next few weeks.”
Dortmund arrived in England on the back of a 10-game winning run in all competitions and were almost on the 7th heaven going into the match, which was very much in contrast with where Chelsea was poised before the match. But the visitors posed barely any attacking threat in the first half bar a Marco Reus free-kick that Kepa Arrizabalaga did brilliantly to palm to safety.
“We have to say, over the course of two games, Chelsea deserves to go through,” said Dortmund boss Edin Terzic. “Both legs were very tight games. In this type of game inches and moments decide if you are going to the next round or not.”
All support staff and team members were visibly elated and indulged themselves in post Chelsea vs Dortmund celebrations.
