On its opening day (Dec. 16) throughout the world, “Avatar 2” apparently saw a massive audience turnout in India. Business sources suggest that the James Cameron-directed film will explode at the box office in India. The Hindustan Times stated that on its first day of release, the highly anticipated sequel to the fantasy-action picture from 2009 sold tickets worth Rs 20 crore via pre bookings. When compared to other major releases this year, such as “RRR,” “KGF: Chapter 2,” “Brahmastra,” and “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” this is one of the highest recorded advance booking figures.

This enormous sum is all the more remarkable considering that tickets for the 3D action-adventure apparently cost between Rs 250 and Rs 3000. Nonetheless, tickets have moved quickly. If this momentum keeps up, Avatar: The Way Of Water might open to between Rs 40 and 50 crores.
