Atlanta Shooting manhunt ended after an 8-hour pursuit with the Police capturing the 24-year-old Afro-American suspect named Deion Patterson. The suspected gunman is accused of opening fire in a Midtown Atlanta medical building Wednesday and killing a 38-year-old woman and wounding four others.
Atlanta Shooting – The casualties
The slain woman from Atlanta Shooting was Amy St. Pierre, the Fulton County medical examiner’s office said. St. Pierre worked for the Atlanta-based Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, the CDC said. The ages of the women who were wounded in the shooting range from 25 to 71. They were sent to a nearby Atlanta hospital, with three of them arriving in critical condition as per news sources.
At least three of the injured victims in the Atlanta Shooting were sent to Grady Memorial Hospital and were in critical condition as of Wednesday evening, according to Dr. Robert Jansen, the hospital’s chief of staff, who briefed the media Wednesday. As of 5 p.m. ET, one of the victims was still in the operating room, Jansen said.
Atlanta Shooting – The Unfolding of the Events
The events of the day unfolded at around noon local time when police received calls about a shooting in the medical center’s waiting room. Patterson’s mother was with him at the time, but was not one of the injured people, the Atlanta police chief said earlier in the day. The family of the alleged shooter is cooperating with law enforcement, he said.
In the latest news update on the Atlanta mass Shooting that the shooter spent about two minutes in the building before fleeing on foot to a nearby Shell gas station. Around 12:30 p.m., he stole a pickup truck that was left running. Police were able to track the truck to Cobb County, where police narrowed in on their search to a building near a shopping area by Truist Park, home of the Atlanta Braves baseball team, where they arrested Patterson.
Several law enforcement agencies from the Atlanta region as well as federal agencies were involved in the investigation and the subsequent manhunt of the Atlanta Shooting.
