Imtiaz Ali and A R Rahman team up once again after “RockStar” to bring forth the life and times of Punja’s actual rock star for the masses, Amar Singh Chamkila. The movie too bears the same name as the individual and the biopic will be delving into the life and times of this famous singer with the infamous Diljit Dosanjh playing the title role. History has it that every time the duo Imtiaz Ali and A R Rahman have teamed up, the movie and the music resonate much after the film losses its relevance.
Amar Singh Chamkila – The movie
The movie Amar Singh Chamkila is based on the life and times of the legendary Punjabi singer, Amar Singh Chamkila who went from rags to riches during the 80s captivating the minds of the audience with his impactful music. His lyrics are said to be cutting-through-the-heart types that earned him love and anger at the same time. He has been appreciated by his fans and admirers and at the same time criticized as well for his work. Unfortunately, he was assassinated at the young age of 27, but his music still reverberates in the ears and minds of music lovers to date and may continue to do so.
Amar Singh Chamkila movie – The cast
Diljit Dosanjh is slated to play the role of the main protagonist and is likely to be paired with Parineeti Chopra, who also happens to be the playback singer in the movie. The movie teaser has already been released where Diljit is seen on the screen for the very first time without a turban.
The movie had already been involved in its fair share of controversies where a stay order was already issued on the release of the film. However, the legal tangle has not been eased a little as the Ludhiana court lifted the stay on the release of the movie recently.
